About This Book „A few years ago, during my stay at Anna Yaroslavna’s residence in Senlis near Paris, I was asked to create a children's book about Queen Anna. The book was to have beautiful pictures, contain lesser-known facts and legends and be written in the form of questions and answers about the life of Anna Yaroslavna. But how can You present all this, when even historians contradict each other almost every month? - I thought rhetorically. - Some facts have very different interpretations, such as the picture in Sofia Church, the year of Anna’s birth, the story with the Gospel and many other things… After the first illustrations by the famous Kateryna Shtanko, I realized that a dryly text would not suit the artist’s sensual, sophisticated pictures at all. The story had to be livened up at least a little... At that moment, a young guest came to Ukraine for her summer vacation, and I decided to show her the old town of Kyiv... And then fate brought me together with the famous Ukrainian painter Kateryna Kosyanenko, and the book was enriched by her with wonderful chronicle images. So now You have two story lines - a chronicle and a fairy tale.“ Ivan Malkovych
